The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has pledged to harness technology-driven tools and strategies to combat economic and financial crimes, along with other forms of corruption.

During the inauguration of an electronic learning management studio at the EFCC Academy in Abuja, EFCC Chairman Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede emphasized the studio’s role in enhancing the intellectual capacity of the commission’s workforce and facilitating distance learning.

Olukoyede highlighted the crucial role of technology in the fight against corruption, noting that the new studio would improve staff productivity and build capacity within the commission.

He remarked, “As you all know, our mandate is increasingly driven by technology. In the past, financial transactions involved visiting the bank, filling out forms, and physically handling money. Today, with just a press of a button, funds can be transferred globally. As financial systems evolve, so too must our methods of surveillance, and this project is a step in that direction.”

Mrs. Chinwe Ndubeze, the Commandant of the EFCC Academy, elaborated on the e-learning studio’s purpose, stating that the academy has a statutory mandate to build the capacity of EFCC staff as well as personnel from other law enforcement agencies.

She also mentioned that the academy serves as the designated training hub for the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions of West Africa (NACIWA). “The EFCC Academy is the official training center for NACIWA,” she said. “We are excited to launch our E-Learning system, which signifies that both EFCC and NACIWA are advancing with the digital era. Education must embrace digital transformation, as we are undeniably in the digital age.”

Aliyu Wali, Head of the External Corporation Unit of the EFCC, commented on the vast potential of the studio, noting that it will unlock numerous opportunities for growth, learning, and innovation for EFCC officers, Nigerians, sister agencies, and other stakeholders.
